Pupils taking part in the popular Young Enterprise programme will now be asked to run activities that will help their local community. The new social enterprise pilot scheme will involve teenagers aged 15 to 19, who will be supported by a volunteer from the local business community. There are currently about 62,000 social enterprises in the UK with combined turnover of more than #163;27 billion. A selection of the social enterprise pilot programmes across the country will also be inspired and supported by England’s Social Enterprise Ambassadors, leaders of some of the country’s most successful social enterprises.
