Teachers in Somerset have won a national award for their work in helping children participate in the rebuilding of their classrooms.
The county’s Building Schools for the Future programme was given the prize for “Innovation in Student Engagement” by Partnerships for Schools - the body that oversees BSF.
The pupils have joined student focus groups to give their views on the new schools. They are part of the Real Ideas Organisation scheme, which allows them to meet with artists and architects to involve them in public art and design for their new schools.
The Somerset BSF team is working to help rebuild Bridgwater’s four secondary and two special schools.
