BBC Radio Scotland Soundtown was officially launched this month at Baldragon Academy in Dundee, where a room has been converted into a radio studio and pupils will be able to make and contribute to programmes.

The school, which beat off stiff competition from Brechin High and the Community School of Auchterarder, will be the fifth in Scotland to host Soundtown, following in the footsteps of Kelso High in the Borders.

The studio will be led by the wishes and interests of the pupils and staff, and will utilise various BBC Scotland departments including news, drama, sport and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra to support curriculum development and community projects.

This will help to build partnerships with other agencies (local clubs, businesses, health services and so on) and enable the children to meet some of their heroes, including actors and musicians.
