The school hall is full of children, staff, helpers and governors. The pantomime begins. Soon the time comes for Jack to go to market with the cow. He meets “the baddy”, who tricks him. If Jack can answer three questions, he will keep his mother’s cow and get some money.

First question. “What is your favourite colour?” “Easy,” says Jack. “Green. My favourite colour is green.”

Second question. “What is the capital of France?” As quick as anything a voice pipes up from among the Year 2 children at the back of the hall.

“F, it is F,” he calls. “The capital of France is F. I know because I can spell it.”
