DOWN IN the trenches in the War against Photocopying, Nigel de Gruchy has problems. It’s not the action itself - due to start today - or his new pals, the NUT. It’s those pesky hacks who won’t use his latest, lovingly-minted soundbite.
The NASUWT chief prides himself on snappy phrases (“industrial action with a halo,” for instane) but can’t get his latest one into print, no matter how many times he repeats it.
In the hope he’ll now stop, we reproduce it here. It relates to Labour’s habit of alienating supporters, and runs: “The Government has snatched discontent from the jaws of popularity.”
Why no one would print it, we can’t imagine.
