We are halfway through“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” with Year 10 when a bolt of light hits Theo.
“Hey, Mr M!” he calls, clicking his fingers. “Y’know what? Listen to this. Titania, right. Take away the last letter and put in a ‘c’ I whaddya get?” He turns his wide eyes eagerly on to the rest of the class. They stare back at him, in silence.
“Well, come on guys! This character is one letter short of being Titanic, right? And she has got really attached to I come on, a Bottom. Geddit? Titanic? Bottom? So what does this make Shakespeare? He’s like that spooky old Nostradamus guy.”
He beams on us all. This is a new hat for Shakespeare, fore-caster of world-shattering events.
