Comparing notes with a colleague after working on comparatives and superlatives, I had to admit my lower ability Year 4 set found the work difficult. Amy, who had particular problems, came up with “Old - older - dead”. But my colleague, working with the more able set, went one better with Chris’s attempt - “Bad - worserer - crap”.
MARY HOPE
My lasting impression of teaching practice involves the infatuation of a Year 8 girl, who gave me a touching farewell card.
Bearing a large green heart, it read: “I don’t care if you’re cross-eyed, I will miss you, and although my sister says you’re ugly, I don’t care.”
The postscript added: “Don’t worry about me as I’ll get by without you.”
