I work in a special school where the pupils regularly astound me. Martin’s direct philosophy is a happy example. One morning he asked me: “Did you see my uncle on the telly last night, Sir?” “No, Martin, who is your uncle?” I replied, trying to imagine how famous (or notorious) his relative was. “Oh, he’s my cousin’s dad.” He turned away, amazed by my lack of knowledge.
