A member of my Year 6 class was searching for an example to extend a list he’d already completed, where the middle word had to be supplied. For example, black (bird) cage.
When asked to read out his own example, he contributed: lollipop ( ) get out.
The class, racking its collective brain, could only come up with “man”, but didn’t consider “man get out” appropriate as it wasn’t a word.
Nick insisted it was right -- lollipop man and man get out: it was in the dictionary and it was one word. Of course it was: mangetout.
