The "interference with the authority of the teacher may well undermine the discipline of the whole class, leading to chaos and ultimately affect the health of the teacher". There was much to be said for the old adage of spare the rod and spoil the child, she said, adding that the Scottish Secretary should exert all influence against "interference by local busybodies".
In 1963, she was again pressing the Scottish Secretary on sex education and the Government's apparently lax view. "As wives and mothers, we have long been concerned about the outcome of depravity in every form which is being presented at all levels through certain sections of the press, cinema, radio and television. It forebodes an end to all Christian principles and clean healthy living."
