Spark to encourage girls into science

Lara Croft powers her motorbike across the cover of the latest issue of Spark, a free magazine intended to persuade girls to pursue careers in IT, science and engineering. Perhaps it's not the most PC of images, but the pictures of real young women inside are reassuringly free from digital enhancement. Some are well known, such as Ellen MacArthur, who used high-tech navigation systems in her round-the-world trip. Others are already at work, making things happen in bridge-building and space exploration. Others are still at school, but already designing web pages to speak to a world beyond the classroom. Order free copies of Spark by calling 0870 150 2500 and quoting URN 02274a or freephone 0800 282167.
