Specialist questions

Sir Cyril Taylor, chair of the Specialist Schools Trust (TES, November 14), thinks that in 10 years' time an entirely specialist system of schools will be in place, with comprehensive intakes. Two questions: what's comprehensive about specialist schools? And what will the thousands of pupils who don't attend such schools believe about what their teachers offer?
