London teachers will receive pound;1,000 bursaries to spend five weeks teaching in Africa next summer, Tim Brighouse, the city’s schools Commissioner said this week. Link Community Development, a charity supporting schools in South Africa, Uganda and Ghana, is looking for 150 teachers from across the UK to take part in its global teachers’ scheme.

Teachers live and work alongside African colleagues for five weeks.

Professor Brighouse said the scheme would be excellent professional development. For details see this week’s TES Jobs section.
