Spoof suspected

When I first started reading the attack on selection by Demitri Coryton (TES, February 2) I assumed I must have picked up a copy of the Guardian by mistake. Its disgraceful reference to Cyril Burt's "fraudulent research", a charge demonstrated as groundless by Robert Joynson and Ronald Fletcher respectively in 1989 and 1991 but still cited by educational progressives and the comfortably ignorant, persuades me to distrust the rest of his evidence.

A glance at the end of the article reveals that Mr Coryton chairs the Conservative Party Educational Association, which must be a spoof organisation set up by the Labour party's dirty tricks department.
