There is to be an external review of all teacher education institutions in 2002-03. The Children and Education Minister told Parliament last week that he wanted a “more consistnt wide-ranging approach” to the monitoring of teacher training. The first step will be an HMI probe next session of the way TEIs prepare students to teach literacy.
