Our research does not, as you say (“Boy-friendly tests were unfair, say heads”, TES, May 25), suggest boys prefer magazines and girls stories. The evidence showed both prefer magazines.
It is also an unhelpful generalisation to conclude that non-fiction favours boys: it depends on thesubject. We discovered girls preferred non-fiction subject matter is animals! This suggests test material in a magazine form on whales is a very fair choice.
