Celebrities including the comedian Bill Bailey (pictured, below), singer Alesha Dixon and TV presenter Kirsty Young are supporting a campaign to improve young people's literacy. They have put their names to a manifesto published by the National Literacy Trust that is calling on political parties to prioritise reading in this year's general election. Jonathan Douglas, the trust's director, said: "The education sector plays a crucial role in supporting literacy by encouraging young people to discover the joys of reading and we hope it will engage with our campaign."
