I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiments expressed by Ellie Levenson where she argues that comprehensive school teachers who opt to educate their own children privately are betraying their profession. However, in the vein of the recent Conservative party mantra, “We’re all in this together”, I would extend her argument further.

How is it that those at the very top of society, many of those individuals who formulate education policy for the majority and decide what is best for them, are products of the fee-paying elite public school system?

How can it be morally correct that those who have no insight into mass education, or experience of it, make decisions that affect hundreds of thousands of children year on year? If “we’re all in this together”, then how about them and their children joining the rest of us in the classroom?
