Stewart Segal, chief executive of the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP), will take up a new role as director of strategy, policy and funding at training provider Aspire Achieve Advance (3aaa).

Mr Segal will take up his new role in April. By then he will have completed nearly three years in charge at AELP. He will continue to work with the AELP board as a member to ensure continuity on a number of policy issues. 

Mr Segal was one of the AELP’s original directors when it formed in 1998. He later became the organisation’s funding and contracting expert for 10 years before taking on the role of chief executive in 2013.

Martin Dunford, chairman of AELP, said: “Stewart has done an excellent job in what is an extremely demanding role. During his time as chief executive, AELP has achieved a great deal during a period of substantial change. AELP is [now] in a very strong position with apprenticeships, skills and employability at the centre of the government’s agenda and the voice of training providers is stronger than ever.”

Mr Segal said: “I am delighted to be joining 3aaa who have established a very strong delivery model that was recognised with an outstanding rating by Ofsted. There are many opportunities to develop the apprenticeship programme even further and I look forward to working with the 3aaa team. “

Peter Marples and Di McEvoy-Robinson, founders and joint owners of 3aaa, said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce [this appointment]. We have invested heavily in the business over the past five years and these appointments are further commitment of this.”
