JACK STRAW, the Home Secretary, has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to repealing Section 28 of the Local Government Act, the law that prohibits local authorities from “promoting” homosexuality. Speaking at a dinner held by Stonewall, the gay rights group, Mr Straw said “Section 28 was wrong in 1987. It is wrong in 1999. It will go”.
