The Association of Colleges has alerted principals to the likelihood of more strikes following reports that the telephone helpline operated by the lecturers’ union NATFHE is being used to ballot for industrial action.

A renewed push is expected following the success of 100,000 university staff in bringing the sector to a virtual standstill during a 24-hour strike. The action was over a 1.5 per cent pay offer to university teachers and 2.5 per cent to manual workers.
