Strikes went ahead this week at two Swansea comprehensive schools in a row over new teaching and learning responsibility payments. (TLRs) National Union of Teacher members at Gowerton and Cefn Hengoed took part in the strike, which closed both schools.
Staff are angry about how TLR posts are being distributed. Some members on the old management allowances stand to lose up to pound;5,600 a year.
David Evans, NUT Cymru secretary, said the union had put forward alternative staffing structures but they had not been accepted. Talks could continue throughout the summer. But he warned of further strikes in the autumn.
“We are still hoping for an amicable settlement,” he added.
