Teachers at an inner-city comprehensive will strike next Wednesday over fears that its partnership with Thomas Telford city technology college could lead to redundancies. The 18 staff at Madeley Court school, Telford, fear curriculum changes designed to boost computer technology will cost jobs in other subject areas. Kevin Satchwell, Thomas Telford’s head, said:
“Sometimes it’s a necessary evil for redundancies to take place. The children have to come first.”
Vic Maher, former deputy of Thomas Telford and current head at Madeley Court said: “We’re working with the unions to ensure that there are no job losses.”
