Strike threat over academy’s hours

TEACHERS at the first city academy are expected to vote for industrial action in protest at longer hours. The National Union of Teachers is balloting members at Greig academy during the next two weeks after they were asked to work 1,400 hours per year, 135 more than other teachers. The action call comes as a team of education experts has been brought in to run the school, which is sponsored by the Church of England and the Greig Trust charity.
