A strong case for eportfolios

I was pleased to read your article regarding the use of eportfolios (“How to slash pound;1bn of waste”, FE Focus, April 7). As the national standard setting body for business and administration skills, the CfA has been actively involved in the development and promotion of a bespoke eportfolio for almost two years and we are pleased to see other organisations follow suit. Ken Boston’s comments (encouraging the use of eportfolios) could not have come at a better time.

Eportfolios provide new ways to engage with candidates, support active learning, capture a huge variety of evidence and streamline the assessment process. The benefits are legion and certainly not restricted to time and cost savings.

I encourage all learning and assessment organisations to explore the benefits, and look forward to a time when all portfolios are eportfolios.
