STUC to debate Millennium Review;In brief

The National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers has submitted a motion to April's STUC conference deploring the Millennium Review as "an unwelcome distraction from the real needs of Scottish education". Two NAS leaders, John Kelly, a former president, and Jack Duffy, the salaries convener, who are taking part in the review, will oppose the motion at the STUC.

"It is a healthy sign that we are not putting up a united front," Tino Ferri of the Scottish executive said. Mr Ferri dismissed Educational Institute of Scotland charges of inconsistency. "They are the experts," he said.
