As Harlow college in Essex prepares to launch its revamped journalism centre, it is quite rightly showing off about some of the big names which passed through on their way to Fleet Street and the small screen.
Piers Morgan, editor of the Daily Mirror, is among its former students, not to mention Evening Standard columnist Tim Lott and Richard Madeley - of Richard and Judy.
But for those of you who have any influence over which vocational path your students choose to follow, a word of caution. It will come as no surprise to my colleagues to know that the Harlow journalism student who went on to make the most money was the one who stayed away from the profession after he left - one Mark Knopfler, lead singer and guitarist with Dire Straits.
