Health

- A parents' pack about body image has been launched to accompany a one- hour lesson plan for teachers. It introduces the role of the media and advertising in influencing young people's perception of body image. Both are designed with primary pupils in mind and aim to help them think critically about these images.

Granite gala

Creativity

- Pupils from Aberdeen visited the Scottish Parliament last month to showcase the Apardion project, a creativity scheme running across 52 schools. It is part of the Aberdeen-based reading initiative The Reading Bus. Pupils have designed resources to celebrate the Granite City, while AVC Media created a website and phone app.

Citizenship

- Scottish pupils are to be trained to become more resilient in emergencies, from flooding to a terrorist attack, via an Education Scotland resource. Wallace words

History

- The work of three primaries and three secondaries will feature in the Special Delivery: The William Wallace Letters exhibition at the Scottish Parliament from 15 August. At the centre of the display will be a 700- year-old letter believed to have been in Wallace's possession and the famous Lubeck Letter. Pupils were invited to help tell the story of Wallace.

On the bounce

Health

- P2s at Wallace Primary in Stirling won pound;500 in an unusual contest. They entered a Jaffa Oranges competition and received a consignment of 10 space hoppers. They then submitted a health and well-being lesson using the space hoppers. They dipped them in paint and bounced around to create a picture of an orange tree to win the cash prize.
