A human rights charity is urging pupils to enter a writing competition focusing on freedom of expression. S3 and S4 pupils can submit a poem, story, factual article or a rap to The Right Words. The contest is the third to be run by the Human Rights Watch London Network in collaboration with international non-governmental organisation Human Rights Watch.

Artist at hand

Art

Scottish artist Iona Leishman has taken up residence at Stirling Castle to work with schools and community groups. She has been appointed as the new artist in residence. Her role will include supporting pupils who are creating portfolios. www.historic-scotland.gov.uk.
