- One of Scotland’s top chefs, Brian Maule of Glasgow’s Chardon d’Or, last week opened the new Post Sixteen Unit (PSU) kitchen at Capability Scotland’s Corseford School in Renfrewshire. The kitchen has been funded by Corseford’s parent council and will be used by senior pupils to help them develop daily living skills they will need when they leave school.

Down with drink

HEALTH

- Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill backed efforts to steer Edinburgh’s young people away from under-age drinking ahead of new legislation that requires licensed premises to check the age of anyone buying alcohol who looks under 25. He visited Portobello High’s “Is it worth it?” project, funded by Diageo and run by Edinburgh Unight, a co-operative of pubs and nightclubs.
