What do you most enjoy about your job?

Making a difference, or trying to make a difference, for members.

Why did you start subscribing to TESS?

I started having TESS delivered shortly after entering teaching. At that time, there was more extensive education coverage in the press, but TESS brought together the politics and pedagogy of education.

What else do you read regularly?

I skim, rather than read, The Herald and The Scotsman on a daily basis. When time permits, I read parts of the New Statesman.

Who would you like to see writing in TESS?

I’d like more from politicians who run education at a local level.

What do you see as the big issue for Scottish education?

Funding. Can Scotland develop and maintain an education service within the climate of austerity?
