Your Jotter item (September 11) exposed the Scottish Qualifications Authority’s scam of giving a very early deadline for appeals while introducing a pound;55 penalty for late entries.
They are also rejecting appeals on minor technicalities which were not of concern in previous years. In such cases, schools who do meet the deadline have to re-submit “late” and are charged.
The SQA’s annual report refers to the need for the organisation to generate revenue. To do so by what could be construed as shameless sharp practice is despicable.
