Suggestions for writing

Write about a younger brother or sister and what life is like living with them. Think carefully about how you will structure your writing and which aspects of your chosen person you will describe. Selecting the right incidents and details will be really important to the success of your piece. Look back at ‘John’s world’.

The writer has chosen to describe her brother’s appearance and certain aspects of his behaviour as well as one specific memory when he was in the Christmas play. Her feelings for him make the piece more than just a description. She also includes humour in her account which enlivens it.
