Councillors in north Wales were meeting to discuss an independent report on a pound;10 million overspend on two “super-schools”, as TES Cymru went to press.
The report says disciplinary action could be taken against three Wrexham council officers over the pound;22.5m project - originally costed at pound;12.2m. It involves closing three town centre secondaries and replacing them with two new, upgraded schools.
The report, compiled by Richard Penn, former chief executive of Bradford metropolitan council, says the scheme still offers value for money, but that councillors missed out on discussing alternatives because of a failure to identify all the costs.
