School support staff are facing the “law of the jungle”, union leaders have warned after it emerged that heads in North Yorkshire County Council have been pushing to slash teaching assistants’ pay by up to a fifth. Fierce opposition forced the authority to abandon plans to shift assistants to term-time-only contracts and remove a special educational needs allowance.
