Term is over. The pupils have gone home. You’ve boarded a flight, armed with sunscreen and sunhat. Stretching ahead of you is untimetabled hour after gloriously untimetabled hour, so you settle down for some quality time with your book of choice.

But what book is it? Do you relax with romance, forget the classroom with an edge-of-the-seat thriller, or challenge yourself with the latest Booker winner?
