A TEACHER, who bruised a boy to save him from being struck after grabbing him to avoid being struck by a javelin, was suspended for two weeks while the incident was being investigated. The case was cited by Bernar Allen, of the Department for Education and Employment’s advisory group on emotional and behavioural difficulties, to show how procedures set up to protect children may be failing them and their staff.
