Dollar Academy’s Corinna Whitaker, who was runner-up in the Scottish Schools Under-16 Championship in March, spent an exhausting weekend at the Blackpool Open earlier this month. The day after completing a 13-mile sponsored walk at her school, she reached the junior final only to lose to England’s Jordyan Layfield 3-1. She also reached the quarter-finals of the open age group event, losing to another English player, Caroline Hallows, 3-0.
