Take an interactive tour

Quarry Products Association has launched an open access site providing an interactive experience for children and a substantial resource for teachers. Virtual Quarry was unveiled last week at the BETT educational technology show. It features a tour of a quarry by a team of walking, talking characters, who explain where the materials for our buildings and roads come from. Activities include piloting a rock delivery truck, activating a quarry blast and transforming a quarry into a nature reserve.

There are resources for key stages 1-4 and teaching units written and tested by teachers. A strong emphasis is placed on science and geography and the units also look at the relevance of quarrying in terms of citizenship and sustainable development. www.virtualquarry.co.uk
