He also cautioned against too much vision. He recalled the educational administrator who told him: "Ten years ago, if I'd had a vision they'd have locked me up. Now I can't get a job without it."
Talking of gurus, Michael Fullan, the Canadian don who thinks a lot about change, was in town last week - well, in New Cumnock at any rate. Others may think of Fullan as a guru, but the man himself? He is worldly wise enough to muse that "people prefer gurus because they don't know how to spell charlatan".
