The thousand-plus teachers who turned up at the Tapestry event in Glasgow last Friday (page 6) chose their day well. Michael O’Neill, director of education in North Lanarkshire, pointed out that Graham Donaldson and seven of his colleagues from HMIE were also there.
“It’s a good day to be out of school, I would say,” he quipped.
Every local authority in Scotland sent people weaving their way to Glasgow, including the three island groups. Teachers from Orkney flew in; those from Shetland came by bus (presumably only after the ferry docked).
“I know where I’d rather be teaching,” O’Neill commented.
