The Scottish Executive’s target of creating 20,000 modern apprenticeships by 2002 needs much more promotional effort, according to Jenny Kellie, chief executive of the Scottish Council of National Training Organisations.
Ms Kellie, giving evidence to the Parliament’s enterprise and lifelong learning committee, also expressed reservations that the credit and qualifications framework tends to be geared to academic results. In-house training can produce equally valid qualifications, she said.
