Paradigm-ICT offers a subscription news website for primary and key stage 3 teachers. Called CR-ed (as in “street cred”), it offers topical features updated every week. The site will appeal to teachers who like to incorporate current events into their lessons.
CR-ed is aimed at KS2;CR-ed Plus at KS3.
Magazine articles cover popular pastimes including football, movies, television and music. Each article is written at three differentiated levels of language in order to reach the majority of ability ranges. The teacher or the pupil can choose. Clicking on highlighted words opens a dictionary window explaining a word’s meaning in context.
Paradigm also offers short and medium term planning tools for teaching literacy in KS1 and KS2. These contrast completely with the magazine resource, which thrives on surprising you every time you log on.
With CR-Use Plan teachers know what their lessons will be, down to the last bit of text and picture, years in advance. Subscriptions are charged per school and allow teachers and pupils to access the site from school and at home. Rates start at pound;250 per year.
