Professional development courses set up by the General Teaching Council for England (GTC) will continue after the disciplinary body is axed. The Cathedrals Group of universities - which includes Chester University and the University College Plymouth St Mark and St John - will now operate the Teacher Learning Academy after acquiring the intellectual property assets from the GTC. Every school in England will be able to use the academy from this autumn.
