Calls to a 24-hour counselling hotline for teachers have increased by 9 per cent during the past year.

More than a quarter of the calls came from new teachers, with many reporting difficult professional relationships.

Teacher Support Network, the charity which runs the Teacher Support Line, has commissioned a survey to gather more information. Teachers in England can call the support line on 0800 0562561. Teachers in Wales should call0800 0855088.
