Verdicts on chemistry and biology are mainly positive, but a substantial number of schools are still making errors in assessing practical abilities in biology, in some cases repeating errors pointed out before.
Some teachers are still giving Standard grade science candidates too much support with their investigations, the Scottish Qualifications Authority states in a series of reports on moderation of teachers' own assessments. Support materials for pupils should not include statements like: "Remember to repeat your experiment."
