Your article “Helping to pick up the pieces” (TES, December 6) brought welcome attention to the role Connexions can have in helping vulnerable young people.

However, it neglected to mention a fundamental aspect of assistance for FE students - the multi-agency nature of support. Yusuf Rwigama received immense help and advice from other professionals, in particular his personal tutor and a college adviser. Connexions personal assistants should not claim all the credit for success stories like Yusuf’s as they are brought about by a team effort.
