Students can design and make a card model of a buggy that can move over the hostile landscape. Look on the websites provided to get a feel for the kind of terrain you are designing for.

Students can design a food bar that gives plenty of energy for the scientists during their trips out. The bar could be kept in a specially designed container that stops it from freezing and allows the scientist to east it straight away.

Students could create their own newsletter, The South Polar Times and use graphic techniques to show what the expedition was like led by Robert Scott and all the problems overcome by the teams who worked there.

Design a lab or pod for the scientists to work in that does not need to be built on site. It is self-sufficient and uses renewable energy to power the equipment and heating inside. Use the websites to gather all data required to draw up the specification of the pod.
