Terrorist alert closes schools

The British International School in Jakarta was closed last week following warnings of a possible terrorist attack.

The decision to shut came after the Australian embassy said it had “credible evidence” that attacks had been planned. The school is to remain closed as the authorities upgrade security.

Many of the dozen other international schools in Jakarta, also closed.

Peter Hoggins, principal of the British International School, warned that expatriates would leave Indonesia unless they felt their children were safe at school.
