11-year-olds on the map

5th September 2003 at 01:00
Up to a million free maps are to be given to 11-year-olds to coax them away from their computer game consoles. Ordnance Survey said every 11-year-old in England, Wales and Scotland was entitled to an "explorer" map of their area, provided their school's head signed up. Schools should register on www.ordnancesurvey.co.ukfreemapsfor11yearolds by October 10.
